Today is Blog Action Day and the topic is "Poverty", which is still a wide-spread phenomenon in the world. However, why do we still have so much poverty, with all the money given to so-called poor countries and with all the charity which is supposed to flow into poor people?
I guess, most of the money never reaches those people who need it. It is well known that development aid is mainly used to buy arms because it happens that poor countries have all a very disagreable form of politics. This goes hand in hand. And concerning charity it is also well known that very little of the collected money is used for the declared purpose. So these two sources of help are not very effective.
And generally speaking it is not only money which turns the situation. It is not even hard labour. It is mainly the state of being which decides, if a person is poor or rich. So, there are made also some efforts to educate people, to give them new ideas and a new perspective. Unfortunately this is mostly intellectual, the emotions are not touched, because it is not part of the culture - their culture, of what they belief is true.
